Guns in America – Breaking Down the Facts with John Lott – Episode 223

October 5, 2016

On this episode of Blunt Force Truth, Chuck Woolery and Mark Young welcome economist and gun rights advocate, John Lott, to discuss the media bias on gun reporting vs. the actual facts on shooting statistics. They dismantle the faulty “logic” of gun control legislation, which would leave the most vulnerable people unprotected, and they highlight the threats to the Second Amendment if Clinton wins the White House.

Dr. John R. Lott, Jr. is an economist and a world recognized expert on guns and crime. Lott has held research or teaching positions at various academic institutions, including the University of Chicago, Yale University, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University and Rice University. He was the chief economist at the United States Sentencing Commission during 1988-1989.  Nobel laureate Milton Friedman noted: “John Lott has few equals as a perceptive analyst of controversial public policy issues.” Lott has published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed academic journals and written nine books, including More Guns, Less Crime.  His most recent book is The War on Guns, available here. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from UCLA.

Lott is the founder and president of the non-profit Crime Prevention Research Center. To learn more about the organization and read about real gun and crime statistics, visit
