Steven Crowder Hilariously Shreds Bernie Sanders On Tax Plan

Conservative commentator and comedian Steven Crowder took some time on his podcast this week to dismantle, line by line, self-styled “democratic socialist” Bernie Sanders’ predictably hyperbolic complaints about the Republican tax plan. The result was Crowder and his team having a lot fun at the expense of Sanders’ class warfare-infused socialist rhetoric.

In an op-ed published in the Guardian, Sanders blasted Trump’s tax plan as “Robin Hood in reverse,” a claim that Crowder quickly points out makes no sense at all and for which Sanders offers no attempt at real explanation. Crowder begins by reading from Sanders’ piece:

The Republican budget, which will likely be debated on the floor of the Senate this week, is the Robin Hood principle in reverse. It takes from those in need and gives to those who are already living in incredible opulence.

“Oh really?” asks Crowder. “Bernie, can you give us any example of a policy you’re actively taking something from a poor person, literally confiscating their rightfully earned property, and handing it to a rich person? Is there anything in there to that effect? Nothing?”

Next up is Sanders’ standard class warfare rhetoric about the “top 1%”:

According to the non-partisan Tax Policy Center, by the end of the decade, nearly 80% of the tax benefits of the Republican plan would go to the top 1% and 40% would go to the top one-tenth of 1%.

Crowder points out that rather than being the ultra-rich, like the “Waltons of Wal-Mart” Sanders is so fond of citing, the real target of Sanders’ and the Democrats’ attempts to raise taxes is really the top tax bracket, which simply means those households who make $250,000 or more a year. So, no, it’s not just the evil Koch Brothers Sanders is trying to load up with an even more crippling tax burden; it’s a whole lot of hardworking Americans.

Crowder goes on to highlight Sanders’ repeated use of “bait and switch” tactics, ill-defined terms, and identity politics and class warfare-based rhetoric that is ultimately economically illiterate.
